That Sunday Feeling

That Sunday Feeling

Norwich Arts Centre is one of my favourite venues to watch bands at, however, probably my least favourite to photograph at. Unfortunately, the lights are usually too dim, and so it relies on using flash to get any usable photos. Last night was another case of this. The advantages of the Arts Centre was that I got access to shoot bits of the sets on stage, allowing me to get photos of the drummers, which I wouldn’t usually get at other venues.

First band up were That Sunday Feeling, a new band that despite this being only their third gig have gained quite a following. They put on a really solid performance, and are definitely a band to look out for in the future.

Lost?

Lost?

Second up were Lost? If you’ve read my blog before you’ll know that I’ve been guitar teching for Lost? as well as playing Synth on a couple songs during their set. This means I don’t get much time to take photos, but managed to spend one song getting a few photos.

Straight Lines

Straight Lines

This was the second time I’ve photographed Straight Lines this year, as they supported Inme at Norwich Waterfront back in February, and The Get Up Kids at Camden Underworld in June. Photos of the Camden show can be seen here. Each time I see Straight Lines they seem to be better, and heavier than the last. Despite a few technical issues, they played a great set.

Attack! Attack!

Attack! Attack!

Attack! Attack! are another band I’ve photographed a few times before. Their self titled debut album was my favourite album of 2008, so it was good to see them back with a new album. Again, they seem to be getting heavier, and the new songs from ‘The Latest Fashion’ work really well in a live setting.

Photography notes:
Hardly any light on stage, made it hard to get great pictures. I usually use flash to take the lights off the bands faces, whilst last night I was using flash to light up the band members. The lack of light meant focusing was a struggle but still managed to get a few shots I’m happy with.
