Avosetta, Darwin & The Dinosaur, Fiorentina and Southpaw

On Friday I went to see four of the best bands from Norwich, at Norwich Arts Centre. The gig clashed with the second England match in the World Cup, so the Arts Centre had the match projected on the a screen behind the bands, so no one would miss the football. Unfortunately, England were rubbish, but luckily the bands were pretty good.

First band up were Southpaw, a band who recently reformed and were playing their first gig back. The first couple of bands were hard to photograph thanks for them being almost completely backlit by the screen, a bit different to what I’m used to, meaning I had to use flash (something I generally never use at the Arts Centre). Southpaw were great, and good to see them play again after a few years.

Second band for the night were Fiorentina, again completely back-lit by the screen with the football one.

By the end of Fiorentina’s set the football had finished, so the screen was replaced with a black backdrop. Next up were Darwin and The Dinosaur. Hardly any lights on the band meant using a high ISO and getting a lot of noise in the pictures.

Last band were Avosetta, who got to the final of Channel 4’s Evo Music Rooms back in April, and are due to record with WellerHill soon.
