Hevy Festival: The King Blues

The King Blues

Although The King Blues didn’t fit musically with a lot of the other bands at the festival, they put on the best performance I’ve ever seen from them. The crowd response was amazing, and the set was just a big sing along. From a photography point of view, the sun really came out for the band, making it slightly harder, but with three songs to photography I got my settings sorted in the first song, and it was easy from then onwards.

The crowd interaction was great, and involved many (failed) attempts at a human pyramid. At one point a fan made it onstage and was encourage to jump into the crowd (there was quite a gap from stage to crowd). As you can see from this photo, he failed, and landed chest first on the barrier.

Itch ended the set crowd surfing and spent the first ten minutes after the set in the crowd signing things and having his photograph taken with fans. I waited until he was done with the fans and grabbed him with a quick photo.
