Young Guns, We Are The In Crowd, Your Demise & Marmozets

Young Guns, We Are The In Crowd, Your Demise & Marmozets

Possibly the hottest ticket in town, and the most packed I’ve seen Norwich Waterfront in a while, the Vans Off The Wall tour hit Norwich with Young Guns, We Are The In Crowd, Your Demise & Marmozets. An interesting mix of music from the screaming Your Demise and Marmozets, to the pop of We Are […]

Straight Lines + Evarose at Norwich Waterfront

Straight Lines + Evarose at Norwich Waterfront

Despite there being two great promising bands playing, this show was again poorly attended, whilst the rest of this tour was packed. Straight Lines put on an energetic show despite the lack of crowd, putting all their anger and aggression at the low turn out, in to their performance. Support band Evarose have grown so […]

Feeder | Norwich Waterfront

Feeder | Norwich Waterfront

Excuse me for reminiscing, but Feeder are a band that had a big impact on music photography for me. Having first seen them as a fan back in 1997, I got the opportunity to interview Grant Nicholas in 1998. At that point I was mainly interested in journalism (but wasn’t very good), and had a […]

We Are The In Crowd | Norwich Waterfront

On Sunday I photographed We Are The In Crowd, The Summer Set and Super Prime at Norwich Waterfront. It was a good show with three young pop punk American bands. As I couldn’t use flash, I had to make use of the limited available light (mostly red and purple), but managed to get a few […]

Shadows Chasing Ghosts | Polar | Avosetta | Depth | Norwich Waterfront

Wednesday was the first time I’ve been at Norwich Waterfront since they added the new smaller venue in the Studio upstairs. Although the stage is small, this new venue provides a place for smaller bands to play who would be unable to pack out the bigger main room downstairs. It also helps the Norwich music […]

Mayday Parade – Norwich Waterfront

Another catch up of photography from the past few months. This time is Mayday Parade from Norwich Waterfront on Tuesday 31st May 2011. This was the first time I got to see Mayday Parade live, and I was really impressed by their live performance. A great band to photograph, as they moved about and had […]

Framing Hanley | My Passion | The Head Start at Norwich Waterfront

Here are some of my favourite photos from the Framing Hanley, My Passion and The Head Start gig at Norwich Waterfront back in May. Was a really good show, with some energetic bands. Especially impressed by My Passion. At the bottom of the post is a slideshow with even more images.

3OH!3 at Norwich Waterfront

I’ve been slightly behind on my blogging recently, so with a bit of down time I’m planning on catching up on it all.

3OH!3 was a great band to photograph. An energetic pop band, which likes to fuse dance and rock into their live shows.

The Blackout / Swellers / Hyro Da Hero

The Blackout at Norwich Waterfront, April 2011 (Jon Luton)

Three great bands, all putting on amazing performances. I always love photographing The Blackout, so much energy and passion in their music, they always put on a show. The Swellers were awesome, I was so disappointed when their last Norwich gig got canceled (due to Gus from Young Guns being ill), so it was great to finally see them. And Hyro Da Hero was incredible, so good to have The Blackout supporting good rap music.

Senses Fail at Norwich Waterfront (Photographer: Jon Luton)
Friday night saw Senses Fail play Norwich Waterfront again. They are an awesome band, so much energy when they play live that they are always a joy to watch/photograph

The Bluetones at Norwich Waterfront

The Bluetones at Norwich Waterfront

The Bluetones
The Bluetones will always be a special band for me, they were the first band I ever saw live, back in 1996. It was watching them play, constantly listening to their albums, and live video (back in the days before DVDs) that made me want to learn to play drums and guitar.

Anberlin and Hawthorne Heights at Norwich Waterfront

Anberlin and Hawthorne Heights at Norwich Waterfront

Hawthorne Heights
I’ve photographed both of these bands before, Anberlin at Norwich UEA when they supported Elliot Minor back in 2008, and Hawthorne Heights at Norwich UEA when they were on the Kerrang tour back in 2006. Really enjoyed photographing both of them the first time round, this time it wasn’t as much fun. Both bands performed great sets, but the lack of light on stage made it very hard to focus and get a fast shutter speed.

Deaf Havana + Me Vs Hero: Norwich Waterfront

Deaf Havana + Me Vs Hero: Norwich Waterfront

Me Vs Hero
It was great to see two great bands Deaf Havana and Me Vs Hero playing to a packed Waterfront. Both bands are great live, and great to photograph.

Another great show at Norwich Waterfront. Although not my usual type of music to listen to, I love photographing heavier bands as there is so much energy put into the performance, and this gig was no different. All four bands put on great performances.
